Harlequin Sun God Moth
Tim stretches on his narrow cot
deep in basement of teeming city.
Purple spiders weave rainbow ladders
through liquid fiber of his ceiling.
I was a moth who found light
and my body became flashing bulb.
Thousand moths gathered around me
thinking I was a glass bulb god.
My belly was striped like Harlequin
my arms pulled rabbits from their brains.
But I was wound up inside a cocoon
and was born butterfly of gold and green.
I flew away and still other moths
flutter around empty shell cocoon
as if it were sun and world savior.
I am happy at last to be alone.
Cat on his stomach yawns and purrs.
